All learners deserve differentiation.

Professional Learning for Professionals

As I planned for this phase of my implementation plan I talked to my teammates at school and we decided this approach would be best due to hiring 2 new teachers.  Focusing on our overall course goal and learning outcomes, this phase focuses on the implementation of station rotations with teachers in a classroom lab setting.  Teachers will be the learners rotating through the same stations their 4th graders will be rotating through.  They will join my google classroom and complete activities during rotations and we debrief on a 10-15 minute walk and talk at the end of the station rotation lab. I want teachers to move through stations just as their students will be doing for practice and first-hand experience.  Teachers will have tasks that mimic student tasks as they also set learning goals for themselves and practice their feedforward skills when they give usability feedback on each other’s google classroom.  I will be sending the course outline to teachers during the summer in case some teachers want to get things done so they have more time for other things that always come up during professional learning at the beginning of the year.  The 2 hours of “On Your Own” are for teachers to do what they need to do as professionals in order to have a successful start to the upcoming school year.  My hopes are that teachers will be self-directed learners and get their “On Your Own” time done during the summer. It won’t be required, but I’ll point out that the 2 hours during August PL will be freed up for them to do other things.  I have sent this course to my instructional coach for usability feedback.

BHAG & 3 Column Table

Having my goals and my 3 column table from 5313 already done gave me focus from the start of this course.  I love how things are all coming together with all of these ADL program courses.

Professional Learning Overview

August PL Course Outline & Full PL Plan

I fully planned out Phase 3 of my professional learning plan because we are implementing station rotations next year with the use of google classroom acting as our online platform.  I created an online blended learning course in 5318 for the first six weeks that will teach our 4th graders to take ownership over their reading life through tracking and reflecting their reading.  Teachers will gain experience navigating google classroom as the online piece of station rotations while getting first-hand knowledge of how the 4th graders will experience the course.
